We have arrived...

Yesterday evening Camdyn and I arrived back in Ellensburg after a long drive from Las Vegas. Actually, the drive yesterday was fine and went rather quickly but Monday we had some problems and the trip took about 5 hours longer than we had hoped.

About 15 minutes into our trip Camdyn had a pee pee emergency and we had to stop at a McDonald's in North Las Vegas. I am so proud of her though, she does so well on long trips and I'd much rather stop whenever she has to go than deal with diapers ever again! After the pit stop we were able to drive on for awhile before the next problem, which was much more of a problem for sure. We ended up getting a pretty bad flat tire (basically in the middle of nowhere). After unpacking the trunk and getting out the spare tire Mom and I found that the lugnuts were overly tightened and near impossible to get off. Our wrench was on the older side and wasn't working very well even if we stood on it! I walked to the only house in sight and knocked on the door but no one was home. Luckily, after a few cars passed us without stopping we were able to flag down a car. The people who stopped were the nicest couple and the man was able to help us get the nuts loose after some trying. Thank goodness they stopped, because it was 106 degrees outside and even standing in the shade under a tree I was really worried about how long Grandma and Camdyn would hold up!

We drove on planning to stop at the next town to try to get the flat fixed and head on. Unfortunately we were told our flat wasn't that stable even after being patched and it seems that small towns don't stock very many tires in their shops so we ended up having to drive the rest of the way to Jackpot on the small spare only going 50 m.p.h. It was such a long day!

Yesterday went much better when we were able to make it to Twin Falls and find a tire shop that actually had some tires in the morning and make it the rest of the way pretty quickly--it's amazing how much quicker it goes when you're actually going the speed limit! I'm glad to be here and able to rest up a bit. It's really been a busy month for us!

Right now I'm in one of those knitting funks. I am sure everyone has gone through one, you know where you just don't feel like knitting on anything. It's been over a week since I've knit and I have decided I'm going to sit down tonight and cast on for a Shedir hat in Rowan Felted Tweed. I was going to start on a sunhat, but I realized I forgot to wind my yarn into balls before I left--oops! I'm hoping we'll be able to stop in at the new yarn shop here in Ellensburg and look around and maybe buy something new to get my mojo back! Wish me luck!
