January 18, 2008 - Posted by Grace SchneblyHabu HeavenI’ve been intrigued by Habu yarns ever since I saw pictures of the Kusha Kusha scarf popping up all over Flickr last year. I had no clue how a silk/stainless or wool/stainless yarn would behave, what it felt like, or how you even knit with it! Luckily that will all change because I just made my first Habu purchase! I broke down when I saw that they’re having their annual winter sale with 25% off select yarns including two colors of wool stainless, cashmere, silk, and wool. The sale ends on January 26, so hurry and check it out! Just to warn you, it is kind of a drag to order from them though because you have to place all orders via email. It just makes things take a little longer and of course is less secure, but they were very helpful and easy to deal with. It ended up taking about 7 days total from when the order was placed to the package showing up at my door, which is pretty good. I am so excited try out these yarns!! I got 2 oz. of A-148 Wool Stainless in both purple and moss green (the two sale colors), 3 oz. A-98 Greelong Lamb Wool in plum, and of course a Kusha Kusha scarf kit! Alice also got two different colors of A-33 Merino wool that she will be using for a scarf. I want to make a Hanami Stole from the purple wool stainless, but I guess I have to finish up my Icarus first to free up the needles! I think that I’ll be knitting the scarf kit very soon because it matches something else I’ve been working on which I will be posting this weekend. Here’s a sneak peek... |
