November 19, 2007 - Posted by Grace SchneblyThe Holiday RushI’ve been working away the past few days, although it doesn’t feel like I have much to show for it. Last week I picked up the Forbes Forest scarf from Scarf Style that I’m making for Alice’s husband, Kenny. I hadn’t worked on it since early October and I figured I better get back to work on it if I was ever going to going to finished in time for Christmas! Even though I’ve got the pattern down and am working the cables without a cable needle, it is still just inching along. However it is a good project to turn to when I feel like doing some relaxing knitting in front of the TV. It now measures 34” so I am maybe half way done with it. Along with the scarf, I’ve been busy working on three other Christmas knits. I didn’t really know what to get or make for a good friend of mine so I decided why not make her a knit Robot! Who wouldn’t love one of those, right? I’ve got all of the pieces knit and blocked, so now I am just left with lots and lots of seaming… I am going to have to motivate myself to finish this little guy up tonight. I see lots of mattress stitch in my near future. The second gift I started just this morning after Alice got me really excited about mitten making.. I am knitting a pair of Chevalier mittens for another friend. I’m using Araucania Nature Wool and will probably have to alter the pattern a little to make them fit just right. The third present I’ve got going on is a surprise! I don’t want to talk about it just yet because it is for my dad and I know he reads this blog. However I’ll be posting about it once it complete and when I know my dad won’t checking in. :) After I finish these four projects, I think I’ll be just about done with my handmade holiday gifts. I’ve got a few more things I’d love to make, but I’m also itching to make something for myself. I was getting ready to go out the other night and realized I have absolutely no handknit hats or mittens for myself! I’m in dire need of them especially with how cold it is getting in Boston. So many knits and so little time… |
