And we'll never have to speak of this again...

This will make a great winter scarf. The finished project is worth the tedious knitting. Almost finished!
Finished and fringed. Close up of the stitch pattern. So glad it’s finally finished!
I love this colorway of Lorna's Laces! Finished My So Called Scarf. Scarf in progress.

Well, I can’t believe I let this scarf carry on for the whole month of August! There really should be no excuse for that since the knitting is easy and pretty mindless. I finished knitting the second skein last night—and it really only took 2 days to knit up the final half of the scarf. I’m going to attribute how long I dragged this scarf out to pure laziness because I kept putting off winding that second skein of yarn!

I’m really happy with the final look of this scarf. I’ve admired this pattern for a long time, and there are lots of great versions in the My So Called Scarf Flickr Group that I found very inspiring. I hadn’t seen a MSCS knit out of Bullfrogs and Butterflies before, but when I saw this yarn on sale at Knit Happens earlier this year I knew it was the perfect yarn for this scarf! The colors are gorgeous and after adding on a few extra stitches to the pattern they blended beautifully. I feel like there is a slight difference in the vibrancy of the colors in the two skeins. Hopefully with wear, and as this yarn develops its halo, it won’t be noticeable at all.

Currently I haven’t blocked the scarf and I think I’ll leave it this way. It doesn’t curl at all, and the edges aren’t as uneven looking as I originally thought they were. I might wash it in Eucalan to give it that nice lavender smell, but I’ll probably hold off on that until it is actually closer to winter. Sadly, this is going to have to go into the trunk with our other cold weather items and wait a few more months ‘til it is chilly enough to bring it out to wear. I’m really ready for it to cool down here and for this hot (and now also humid) weather to break!

I’m sure I’ve said everything I can about this scarf … so I am sure you’re just as glad as I am to have it finished so I can finally stop talking about it! ;)
