November 04, 2010 - Posted by Grace SchneblyNew Pattern: Heart of the Mesa MittensThe Heart of the Mesa Mittens pattern is now available for purchase on Ravelry (or by clicking the "Buy Now" button above)! I really had a lot of fun designing and knitting these mittens since they idea has literally been in my head for years now. I couldn't be happier with how they turned out, and I already have several ideas for a few more designs I want to get started on before the end of the year. The pattern is written to fit a woman's hand that is 7.5" around the palm above the thumb and can be sized up or down by adjusting gauge. The design is fully charted, and I've also included a supplemental download which has the chart colors reversed to help if you decide to work the pattern in a color scheme opposite of the one shown in the pattern. Skills required are basic increases and decreases, knowledge of reading color charts, and knitting in the round in a small diameter. A general knowledge of stranded colorwork techniques such as color dominance and managing floats is also important. I want to thank all of my test knitters one more time. I loved seeing all of the great color variations and the variety of yarns everyone used. I wrote the pattern to be worked in Malabrigo Sock, but it would look great knit out of any fingering weight yarn. Using a more rustic feeling yarn like Harrisville New England Shetland would give your mittens a different, but equally fantastic look, and am planning a pair out of this yarn myself! I hope you all enjoy the pattern! |
