August 06, 2007 - Posted by Alice SchneblyOne skein down, one to go...![]() Progress on the My So Called Scarf is coming along nicely. I’ve just finished up knitting my first skein of Bullfrogs and Butterflies and the scarf is just over 3 feet long. I’m planning on adding fringe to the ends, so I’ll probably just reserve some yarn for that and knit ‘til the rest is gone. Hopefully that will produce a pretty good sized scarf! I’m definitely going to need to block it to help straighten it out a bit. My edges in places look a little uneven and wavy. I’m enjoying the knitting a bit more than I was at the start. I’ve really gotten into a rhythm with the stitch pattern. It’s still not the most exciting thing to knit, but like Steph said in the comments on the last post, it makes for perfect mindless T.V. knitting!

Karen-I'm using size 11s like in the original pattern. It seems like such a big needle for worsted weight yarn, but this stitch pattern really produces a dense fabric!
Jocelyn-I'm actually slipping my stitches purlwise, and I haven't noticed any biasing... funny I didn't even think of slipping them knitwise!
I love your projects! What size needle are you using for My So Called Scarf?
I'm knitting this too, and I find that it's biasing a bit. Definitely looks slanted. Are you slipping the stitch knitwise at the beginning of the modified SKP and knitting through the back loop on the end part? I am doing this (which I think is correct), but that's the only reason I can think of for the slant. What do you thin?
The scarf is looking beautiful... love that lavender color, too!
