August 31, 2007 - Posted by Alice SchneblyAnd we'll never have to speak of this again...
Project Specs Well, I can’t believe I let this scarf carry on for the whole month of August! There really should be no excuse for that since the knitting is easy and pretty mindless. I finished knitting the second skein last night—and it really only took 2 days to knit up the final half of the scarf. I’m going to attribute how long I dragged this scarf out to pure laziness because I kept putting off winding that second skein of yarn! I’m really happy with the final look of this scarf. I’ve admired this pattern for a long time, and there are lots of great versions in the My So Called Scarf Flickr Group that I found very inspiring. I hadn’t seen a MSCS knit out of Bullfrogs and Butterflies before, but when I saw this yarn on sale at Knit Happens earlier this year I knew it was the perfect yarn for this scarf! The colors are gorgeous and after adding on a few extra stitches to the pattern they blended beautifully. I feel like there is a slight difference in the vibrancy of the colors in the two skeins. Hopefully with wear, and as this yarn develops its halo, it won’t be noticeable at all. Currently I haven’t blocked the scarf and I think I’ll leave it this way. It doesn’t curl at all, and the edges aren’t as uneven looking as I originally thought they were. I might wash it in Eucalan to give it that nice lavender smell, but I’ll probably hold off on that until it is actually closer to winter. Sadly, this is going to have to go into the trunk with our other cold weather items and wait a few more months ‘til it is chilly enough to bring it out to wear. I’m really ready for it to cool down here and for this hot (and now also humid) weather to break! I’m sure I’ve said everything I can about this scarf … so I am sure you’re just as glad as I am to have it finished so I can finally stop talking about it! ;) |

I have some lorna's laces shepard worsted in this same color... you scarf makes me want to make another so called scarf :)
so pretty.
Wow! That scarf is really gorgeous!
It's lovely!!
Well it really is beautiful! Fringe is a great idea. :)
the scarf looks lovely. love the yummy colors (makes me want some neopolitan ice cream). thanks for your comment on my blog. yes, they do hope to distribute nationwide. i will definitely post about it as the beer comes available--hopefully sooner than later.
Wheee! It's a FO! Love the colorway and the zigzag effect. And see, you'll tuck it away, move onto other things, and then when you pull it out again it'll be new and pretty again...some knits are better after they've been aged a bit. :D
The lengths of colors in that yarn worked out perfectly for this scarf! You couldn't have planned a prettier zigzag/diamond pattern with the colors.
Congratulations on finishing the scarf -- it's beautiful!
It's just beautiful!
This came out beautifully! You have inspired me to add this project to my ever growing list!
Wow! Great job!!!!
Your scarf is tremendous! And for what it's worth, I have started and frogged this pattern at least three times because I got too distracted. I am impressed.
I really like that colorway in that pattern, good choice!
Hahaha! Actually, I love seeing it with the fringe, just one more time! (Well, what about an action shot come cooler weather? Huh.. huh? Wink, wink, Please! :P )
And btw, I'm so jealous of your score on Knit Happens! For some reason every time I decide it's time to buy more yarn and check their site, they're already sold out of what I'd wanted! Ack!
